Description

An important addition to the exhibition content.
This publication is more than just an exhibition catalogue – it is a book about the Moon that seeks to present our celestial companion and its influence on life on Earth in a simple and accessible way to a broad audience. Blame it on the Moon explores the Moon from multiple perspectives: astronomical, historical, anthropological, biological, geological, technological, and cultural.

It is a book that will appeal to schoolchildren, teachers, parents, and enthusiasts of space, nature, mythology, and history. There has not yet been a comparable collection of original Slovenian material about the Moon gathered in one place.

As the title of the exhibition suggests, humans have long attributed their troubles to external influences, and throughout history, the Moon has served as a convenient target for such beliefs. Even today, more than fifty years after humans first set foot on its surface, many imaginary effects are still attributed to the Moon—effects that have no basis in reality. Despite seeming so familiar and ever-present, the Moon’s movement through space and across our sky, its phases and features, numerous scientific discoveries, and technological feats related to its exploration remain poorly understood by the general public.

We believe that Blame it on the Moon will help change that. Readers will return to the book time and again, each time discovering something new and interesting—perhaps even something that changes their perspective on the Moon, the universe, and humanity’s place within it.

The book is richly illustrated with original and historical photographs of the Moon and related phenomena, images from the pioneering days of lunar exploration, and futuristic, almost science-fiction-like depictions of future lunar outposts.
