Part of the skeleton of an elk (Alces alces), which was found by Ribnica cavers in 2001, is on display. The remains were found at the bottom of a 40-metre deep karst pit, buried amongst collapsed rocks. Elk were known in Slovenia already in the Pleistocene and became extinct in our country before the beginning of the Middle Ages.
