In the footsteps of the Scabiosa trenta

Alpski botanični vrt Juliana v Trenti, 20. 8. 2022 from 11:00 to 13:00

GUIDED TOUR at 11.00, 12.00, 13.00

Julius Kugy, a very good friend of the founder of Juliana - Alberto Bois de Chesne - was the mountaineer, writer and amateur botanist. The Trenta Valley and the Julian Alps attracted him predominantly by the mysterious Scabious of Trenta (Scabiosa trenta), described as a new species in the 18th century by the naturalist Balthasar Hacquet. Kugy, however, searched for it in vain, and in the end "the winner was the sober, cold mind of a scholar over the dreamy soul of a mountain poet." What is the truth about the mysterious Scabious of Trenta? Can we really find him in Trenta?

Admission to the garden as per the price list; guided tours are free.
